Large circular campus building.

The Project

The development at Appleton Academy involved construction of new school premises for pupils from Reception to Sixth Form as well as a public library.

Power On was commissioned to provide a new substation to power the Academy’s electrical supply and to remove overhead electricity lines erected throughout the site.

  • Electricity

This was the first time we have worked with Power On and we were not disappointed. To complete the energisation with such unwavering attention to detail was extremely impressive. We will definitely be looking to appoint them for our next project.

Challenging development

To divert the overhead lines, Power On had to negotiate a 1km cable route through an opulent housing estate, whilst ensuring minimal disruption for residents.

As this work involved third party land, mechanical plant access was restricted; meaning some of the route had to be hand excavated.

Multi-skilled support

As the project continued, it also transpired the client’s electrical contractor could not complete the private LV cabling works from the substation to the distribution board. Utilising their flexible, multi-skilled workforce, Power On stepped in to finish this work in just three days, ensuring the connection could go ahead.
